General Discussion
« on: May 14, 2017, 12:10:58 AM »
I'm creating this thread as a place for general discussion about the game, here on the forums, in the hopes of giving it more use and bringing it some more activity. We can discuss anything from game strategy to story planning, and everywhere in between :) and unlike the Hall of Creation (Room 333 of the Inn), the content of this thread will not be wiped clean at the end of each round.

When we last heard from the elves Syne and Linkallon, they were exploring a floating isle believed to house the hidden remains of the lost city of Sol-Man, the ancient home of a legendary civilization of great arcane knowledge and power. They found what they sought, and delved into the depths of the isle in hope of finding the answer to revitalizing the crumbling and decaying Riven Realm, and save it from the ongoing Voidscar Crisis.

This was two rounds ago. Over 50 years has passed since then, and as we can all plainly see, the Riven Realm has not been cured of its plague. It continues to dwindle, and Houses of long-lived heritage yet fall victim to the Void. Even the most ancient of elves, an ageless race, have been taken. Those few who yet remain must take up the mantle and forge together a new generation of prosperity for their people, else they will surely fall to the same fate as their beloved kin.

And one question, above all others, eats at Syne, who now fulfills the role of Acting Highlord of the Elven Lords in the absence of his fellow Eldari... that question being, "Where is Linkallon?"

What will the round ahead have in store for the desperate peoples of the Riven Realm? Join in on crafting the adventure --- share your thoughts and ideas in the thread below!

He went very near to the void to chase after Overcrow Dinge :D
I have returned! ^^ And it does indeed seem that the Story must go on! :D

I just realized, last round's story for Linkallon should be retroactively written as Linkallon's struggle against the Overcrow Dinge. Like, actual battles with it even. *_*

Epic.

We should discuss what the ultimate consequences of the Elves' discovery of the lost city was. What did we find? Did we find anything useful? Were we placed in mortal peril? Were the consequences far-reaching?

I originally had it in mind that we would be placed in mortal peril, but we would also at least come close to recovering something very powerful and significant from the ruins. Similar to what happened in the Land Below the Wind (still have to finish that! >.<), Link and Syne may have even been split up, and one may've been forced to abandon the other. If we were to do that, I would've had Syne be abandoned. Kind of comes full-circle that way, as he led the expedition that was forced to abandon some of his Elven comrades (and apparently Rincon too).

The consequences of their expedition would have to be reflected in last round's retroactive story. Perhaps Syne and Link are still split up last round, and by the end of it they're reunited and Syne is home with his Elven kin.

This round, perhaps we can do something I wanted to do a few rounds ago, but never got around to: introduce the Land of Mist and the Orcs into the story. So far we've only seen the Elves, the Pirates, the Knighthood of the Call (I think... did they make an appearance?), and the Marauders. It'd be interesting to touch on these unexplored cultures. Also, we should probably reflect Crownguard's reappearance, and his retaking the mantle of Lord-Commander of the Knighthood.

If you have anything in mind for this round, last round, or the expedition Syne and Link were last seen on, I encourage you to share them :)

OH, maybe we should also reflect our new allies. A Romanesque Empire that comes to join the Order of the White Flame.

Also, I'd like to work together on drawing up a map of the Realm, if it's possible.

A couple problems with the way I've been doing the story: one is that non-immortal characters would have to be magick'd or lineage'd into each new generation, and the other is that since so much of it has been from the elves' perspective, it might be delicate to include potentially opposing groups such as orcs and marauders in a way that won't degenerate. :) I'm up for the challenge. :D Maybe the Voidscar crisis will have made it a good time to put aside past differences. ;)
